It borrowed and lent elements\u2014musical, thematic, and instrumental\u2014from other genres and regions, with innovation being a central element. Musicians often transitioned between genres, blending influences from traditional, island, classical, light, Balkan, swing, and Latin music, navigating between the Piraeus school and other styles.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s 9th Rebetiko Festival includes examples of such mixtures and interactions.
