With limited financial resources but with abundant courage and determination, Greek seamen undertook the difficult transition from sail to steam at the end of the 19th century. They managed not only to evolve into shipowners but also to chart significant courses, which were continued and expanded by future generations.<br \/>\nThe exhibition documents the beginnings and journeys of 60 prominent Greek shipping families over nearly a century. The common denominator: a Greek sailor who dared to take the step toward ship ownership.
