DESCRIPTION:Modern Greek shipping is a timeless achievement of Greek seamanship — a rhapsody first composed by dozens of sailing ship captains\, writing the epic of a unique\, global feat. With limited financial resources but with abundant courage and determination\, Greek seamen undertook the difficult transition from sail to steam at the end of the 19th century. They managed not only to evolve into shipowners but also to chart significant courses\, which were continued and expanded by future generations.\nThe exhibition documents the beginnings and journeys of 60 prominent Greek shipping families over nearly a century. The common denominator: a Greek sailor who dared to take the step toward ship ownership. Through a wealth of visual material — over 700 images — the modern Greek maritime miracle and its true protagonists are brought to light: the sailors and their families.

It explores choral music and how monophonic music transforms under the prism of polyphony. \nOur research led to a unique selection of songs from different eras and musical genres. The performance will feature works from the international Rock\, Punk\, and Folk scenes\, as well as Greek traditional and contemporary art music. Examples include pieces by Pink Floyd\, The Clash\, M. Hadjidakis\, G. Aggelakas\, Winter Swimmers (Heimerinoi Kolymvites)\, and others. \nWe aim to make this concert an official event dedicated to polyphonic music.

She visits him daily\, cares for him\, and bears full responsibility for him\, having set her own life aside entirely.\nThis particular day unfolds as a climax of the father’s condition. He no longer recognizes her. Fixated on a stopped clock\, he is confined to repetitive patterns\, stubbornly denying the truth. He denies his children\, denies the job he once served\, and denies his inability to care for himself.

DESCRIPTION:The International Festival of the Aegean is held annually on the island of Syros. It is a multidisciplinary program of events that combines opera productions\, chamber music\, and lyrical singing.\nThis year’s Festival is dedicated to its founder\, Peter Tiboris\, who passed away suddenly in the fall of 2024. It was 20 years ago that he launched the Festival by conducting Rossini’s The Barber of Seville.\nTo honor Peter\, we will return to Rossini\, and also present works by more of his favorite composers in concerts and full opera productions. \nThe Festival features renowned classical ensembles\, conductors\, dance troupes\, choirs\, and groups from some of the world’s greatest opera houses.\nThis year’s program includes performances such as The Barber of Seville by Rossini\, Elektra by Strauss\, among others.
